Recycling art competition is a huge success at Upton Heath

Pupils at Upton Heath have taken part in a local pupil forum, working with children from seven schools in Chester to come up with a joint project. The children decided to run an art competition using recycled materials, and the response from our pupils has been fantastic!

From rockets and sea creatures, to boats and trees, we are very proud of the skill and creativity shown by our pupils in their competition entries.

On the 21st June 2021, all of the competition artwork was on display in the playground after school, to give all families an opportunity to view this wonderful artwork from a safe distance. We will also be sharing all of the entries from Upton Heath virtually with the other Chester primary schools taking part in the forum.

Every child who entered the recycling competition will receive a certificate to celebrate their entry, and an overall winner will also be selected. Our thanks go to Jai and Lyra from Year 4 who were the organisers of the event, as a result of their attendance at the pupil forum.

Mrs Buckland,Year 5 teacher at Upton Heath said: “The standard of entries was incredibly high and we were so impressed with how creative the children had been with their recycled materials. We were pleased to be able to give parents and children the chance to walk through and look at all of the art work in the playground.  The wind tried to blow a few away but our recycling champions and helpers from Year 5 were able to rescue them. Well done to all children involved.”
