EYFS
Welcome to EYFS!
We have two classes in EYFS: Acorns and Conkers. Although we have two different classes, we spend lots of time together as a whole with our EYFS family.
In EYFS we love to learn through play, get creative, try out new ideas and explore the outdoors. Our journey of learning follows the children’s needs and interests.
To help us learn to read and write we use Anima Phonics, a multi-sensory method, teaching children actions and poems for each of the 44 letter sounds. You can also access Anima Phonics from home. https://www.animaphonics.com/
Every week we post a video and share our ‘This Week and Next’ newsletter on Seesaw to share which sounds or words we’ve been learning and also fun games and activities that you can try out at home.
We also post regular pictures on our school Twitter account, why not take a look for #eyfsuhps to share in our learning adventures.
Top tips for EYFS
Please ensure that your child brings their book bag into school with them every day containing their reading record and reading book.
Water and snack: Please send a named water bottle in daily so that your child can stay hydrated throughout the day. We also have a variety of different fruits available every day for snack, however if you would like to send your child in with a piece of their favourite fruit please do so. Milk is available for all children daily.
PE: This half term is on a Monday. Please send your child into school ready dressed in their PE kit which they can wear all day. As the weather gets colder tracksuit bottoms and a jacket may be appropriate.
‘Tree Tuesday’: Every Tuesday we take our learning adventures outdoors into our mini woods. We love to explore the outdoor environment and may get a little muddy! Please make sure your child wears appropriate clothes and a pair of wellies in school. This will begin the week the children are all in full time.
We use Seesaw to communicate important messages so please check your accounts regularly. Lookout for information on how to activate soon!
Please see our ‘Knowledge Organiser’ to the right which shares our learning for this half term.
Thank you from all of the EYFS Team
