Welcome to year 6!
It has been a busy start to the term with Shakespeare cast workshops underway, and there will be much more to come. To keep up to date with what’s been happening in school, you can visit our Twitter account tag #OakUHPS
Top tips for year 6
Reading: Please continue to encourage your child to read at home and take the opportunity to discuss their reading with them. The school library is available to them along with the extensive range of texts inside the year 6 class rooms.
Home learning: Home learning is due each Tuesday and is a weekly task linked to/supporting learning taking place in the classroom. Children should practise their times tables daily on Times Tables Rock Stars, and their year 5/6 spelling (please see ‘useful information’).
PE: Please make sure your child has their PE kit in school every week (Wednesday and Friday lessons). In cold weather, tracksuit bottoms and a jumper/hoodie are a good idea whereas the dark shorts and a plain white t-shirt will be sufficient in the summer and for indoor activities.
Essential items: Children should remember to bring in their reading book, pencil case and a healthy snack/water bottle. School uniform guidelines should also be followed. Please ensure that all items are clearly labelled.
