Top tips for Year 4/5
PE: Children need to have their PE kit in school every week. We will be doing some of our PE outside this term so please ensure your child has appropriate warm kit e.g. jogging bottoms and hoodie as well as a t-shirt and shorts.
Daily mile: Everyone is also included in the ‘daily mile’ during the day in school. This is part of our curriculum so it is important that your child is able to take part in sensible footwear.
Reading: The children should be changing their own books whenever they finish one, on any day necessary. Reading records need to be handed in on Monday to be checked. The children need their reading books and records in their bags every day to allow them to read with an adult whenever possible. Children are able to use the school library once a week during lunchtimes.
Time Table Rock Stars: Please encourage your child to log onto Times Table Rock Stars to help them learn their times tables.
Home learning: In Year 4, the expectation is that children complete one task per week and in Year 5, children will be given homework on a weekly basis. For both year groups, tasks should be handed in by Wednesday every week. Home learning will be celebrated and shared with the whole class.
Snack and water bottles: Please remember that your child will need a bottle of water to have in class and either a healthy snack from home or money for snack at break time.
Lunch: Please discuss the lunch choices for the week so that your child is able to decide what they wish to have. Don’t forget to credit your ParentPay accounts to ensure that there is enough credit.
Belongings: Please make sure that all of your child’s belongings (especially jumpers and cardigans) are clearly labelled.
