Home Learning
Our approach to Home Learning. Children learn best where there is a successful partnership between parents/carers and school.
This partnership is something we promote at Upton Heath in order to nurture children’s interest and enjoyment of learning. We believe that home learning should be relevant and purposeful, linked to current programmes or work and designed to enhance, enrich and reinforce learning. Each half term every year group will receive their new Home Learning Grid. Please see our class pages to find your child’s Home Learning Grid.
Children can choose the tasks they want to complete and think of creative ways to continue their learning outside of the classroom. Time Tables Rock Stars. At Upton Heath C of E Primary School we use a fantastic programme called Times Tables Rock Stars to help your child to develop speed and accuracy in their times tables.
The curriculum states that all children should be able to recall accurately their multiplication and division facts up to 12×12 by the end of year 4. Times Table Rock Stars is a fun and challenging programme designed to help children to master their times tables through regular short bursts of practice rather than long sessions. Log in here.
Remote Learning
Due to the current coronavirus pandemic, we are in a period of remote learning. For the majority of children, our contingency plans for remote learning have now come into effect utilising the Seesaw and Tapestry learning platforms.
Staff are setting work and activities for their children using Seesaw (Y2-Y6) or Tapestry (EYFS and Y1). These are both learning platforms, that some classes have been using for some time. All children have login details to access these websites from home at www.tapestryjournal.com and www.seesaw.com or via the apps which are available. Please see the guide for how to log into an account at home or contact school for support.
If you have not already done so, please log into Seesaw and set up your home link with the class teacher. This is a private link; you will only have access to see/post for your child. No-one else will be able to see their work, other than the teacher. If you experience any issues with this, please ask your child’s class teacher. Reception class teachers will continue to use Tapestry to communicate and set work for their children.
Work will be posted onto the class Seesaw / Tapestry page by 09:00 every day. Activities will be focused on English and maths activities, already planned and on the current book that is being studied in class. Posts and activities may be video, pictures or word documents posted into Seesaw or Tapestry. Any questions, issues, concerns can be logged onto your child’s page.
