As a good Cheshire primary school with outstanding features, Upton Heath offers rich and memorable learning experiences that motivate and inspire our children to become independent and confident learners.
We constantly strive to achieve excellence in all aspects of school life and reach standards of which our children are rightly proud. We follow the national curriculum across all subjects.
In maths there is a focus on fluency, reasoning and problem solving, and children enjoy using our additional resources Times Table Rock Stars and Numbots.
In reading and writing, we provide phonics teaching that is rigorous, structured and enjoyable. We use Anima Phonics, a multi-sensory method, teaching children actions and poems for each of the 44 letter sounds. At Upton Heath, we use Pathways to Write from The Literacy Company to build pupils’ writing skills.
At Upton Heath, our approach to reading is based on developing reading skills through spelling, punctuation and grammar (SPAG) activities, child led groups and independent reading.
Our science curriculum allows children to gain a solid grounding in scientific knowledge, developing their skills as science investigators. As a Chester based Church of England school, RE is a valued area of the curriculum and is taught in a cross curricular style.
