Welcome to  Year 3

Welcome back! We hope you've had a fun filled summer holidays and are ready to have a great term- we have lots of exciting learning opportunities planned. Our first topic is the Stone Age. We will be using a range of eye catching picture books to help us dive into this topic and learn new facts as well as producing a wide range of styles of writing.

General Information

PE: Please make sure you have both your indoor and outdoor PE in school each day this term.

It is a good idea to send your child to school with their full kit at the start of the week and leave it in school until Friday - to make sure they have it for every PE lesson. It is important that the children have appropriate PE kits including long sleeved top and jogging bottoms (for when it is cold) or t-shirt and shorts (when it is warmer).

Everyone is also included in the 'Daily Mile' during the day in school. This is part of our curriculum so it is important that your child is able to take part in sensible footwear.

Remember to make sure that  reading record books are in bags every day to allow children to read to an adult whenever possible.  They will be checked during your guided reading session and it is the expectation that your child should show their record to their teacher once a week.  Children will be supported where needed to change their reading books on a regular basis as they are growing in independence. They should be changing their own books whenever they finish one, on any day necessary.

Children are able to use the school library once a week during lunchtimes.

The half termly grid, is available to view on the pupil area and on the home learning page of the website.  The expectation is that children complete one task per week and that this task is handed in by Tuesday every week.  Home Learning will be celebrated and shared.

Children can also access other tasks on the Bug Club website and MyMaths website (click on the links below).  There are books and maths tasks allocated on these sites and it is beneficial for your child to work on these at least once a week.

Year 3 will be having their forest school sessions during Autumn term 1. A letter will be sent out with a reminder of appropiate forest school clothing.

Please remember that your child will need a bottle of water to have in class
